I have always been a fan of reward programs and the reward society generally. For those who do not know what these are exactly, this article will equip you with all you need to know about reward programs. They are also commonly known as loyalty programs.
These are strategies which merchants put in place to encourage, us, the customers to continue shopping at or using services which are associated with their programs. By acquiring these reward programs, I am then able to exchange those rewards within a particular company’s product or services.
These rewards are usually useful in just one certain platform. They are not convenient for me as a person who loves to access services and products from different companies. Most of these tend to expire even before I get a chance to utilise them.
Below, I will discuss the challenges that I go through as a customer:
🔗 Searching for merchants is always a hassle for me. Most of the time, I tend to look for merchants on social media platforms such as Google Maps, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other local apps which are available in my country. There is the difficulty of making a decision based off of this type of information as I don’t have the guarantee that it is correct.
🔗 These reward programs are usually not easy to come by. Most of the time, I get my hands-on point-based store reward cards and mileage cards. Points tend to expire even before I get a chance to utilise them. Cards, on the other hand, are also prone to losses. My general conclusion from this is that these programs don’t have the liquidity, convenience or even safety that I require.
🔗 On this particular sector, I have not seen or heard of any cryptocurrencies being used. Merchants tend to dismiss cryptos with the argument that most are intended to be exchanged to fiat currency, a process that takes longer and involves numerous exchange fees. As a crypto enthusiast, incorporation of cryptocurrencies into this sector would be of great convenience to me.
